This document sets out the general Terms and Conditions governing the car rental services provided by CarRentalCyprus. By making a reservation on our website www.carrentalcyprus.cy, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted all the clauses outlined below.
Booking a vehicle with CarRentalCyprus is quick and easy through our website. Reservations can be made online without advance payment and, in most cases, without the need for a credit card.
The booking process includes selecting the rental period, choosing the desired vehicle category, and providing basic personal details. After completing the reservation, the customer will receive an automatic confirmation email.
Our team will verify the request, and within 24 hours the customer will receive a final confirmation of the booking.
If the exact vehicle model requested is not available, CarRentalCyprus guarantees to provide a similar vehicle from the same category or a higher category, at no extra cost.
At the time of vehicle pickup in Larnaca, Larnaca Airport, or at an agreed delivery location, the customer must present:
A valid driving license (Category B) held for at least 12 months
A valid passport or national ID card, covering the entire rental period
An International Driving Permit (IDP), if the driving license is not issued in Latin characters (e.g. Cyrillic, Arabic, Chinese)
The minimum age to rent a vehicle from CarRentalCyprus is 21 years, with at least one year of driving experience.
For higher or premium vehicle categories, additional age or experience requirements may apply.
Reservations are made online without prepayment.
Payment is made upon vehicle pickup, in cash, debit card, credit card, or other locally accepted payment methods.
A refundable security deposit is required at pickup. The deposit amount depends on the vehicle category and typically ranges between €300 and €1200.
The deposit is refunded after the vehicle is returned in the same condition as received, subject to inspection.
The rental period is agreed at the time of booking and specified in the rental contract signed upon vehicle pickup.
Any extension of the rental period must be requested at least 24 hours before the scheduled return time.
Late returns without prior approval may result in additional charges, calculated per extra rental day.
The standard fuel policy at CarRentalCyprus is “full to full.”
The vehicle is delivered with a full fuel tank.
The vehicle must be returned with a full tank.
If the fuel level is lower upon return, the missing fuel will be charged, along with an administrative refueling fee.
All rental vehicles include basic third-party liability insurance, as required by law in Cyprus.
Optional insurance packages may be available, including:
CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) – reduces financial liability in case of damage
TP (Theft Protection) – covers theft or attempted theft
Full Insurance / Super CDW – minimizes or eliminates excess liability
Available insurance options and conditions are clearly presented during the booking process or at vehicle pickup.
The renter must comply with all Cypriot traffic laws, including but not limited to:
Speed limits:
50 km/h in urban areas
80 km/h on rural roads
100 km/h on highways
Seat belts: mandatory for all passengers
Driving side: left-hand side of the road
Alcohol limit: maximum blood alcohol content of 0.05%
The customer is fully responsible for any traffic fines, penalties, or violations incurred during the rental period.
Taking the rental vehicle outside Cyprus is strictly prohibited, unless prior written authorization is granted by CarRentalCyprus.
Driving the vehicle outside Cyprus without authorization voids all insurance coverage, and the customer assumes full responsibility for any damages, fines, or incidents.
In rare cases where the reserved vehicle model is unavailable, CarRentalCyprus undertakes to provide a vehicle from the same category or a higher category, at the same rental price.
The customer agrees to:
Use the vehicle responsibly and return it in the same condition as received, excluding normal wear and tear
Ensure that only authorized drivers listed in the rental contract operate the vehicle
Avoid negligent use, off-road driving, racing, or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Any damage resulting from misuse or violation of these conditions is not covered by insurance.
CarRentalCyprus provides 24/7 roadside assistance. In case of accident, breakdown, or any issue during the rental period, the customer must immediately contact the emergency number provided in the rental contract.
We will arrange technical assistance, a replacement vehicle, or another suitable solution to ensure the customer can continue their journey safely.
By booking a vehicle on carrentalcyprus.cy or signing the rental agreement at pickup, the customer confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
